Review 'Slow Burn' by K. Bromberg

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23257596-slow-burnFrom K. Bromberg, the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Driven series comes another pulse-raising, unputdownable romance . . .

Get ready, because one night is about to change everything.

One night. That's all it was supposed to be . . .

Reeling from the sudden loss of her sister, Haddie Montgomery has sworn off relationships. All she wanted from Beckett Daniels was a sexy distraction to help her escape her pain for just a little while . . .There weren't supposed to be any strings attached-so why can't she shake the memory of that unforgettable night from her thoughts? Or the taste of his kiss from her lips?

No matter how hard Haddie tries to forget about him, Becks relentlessly tries to prove that she should start living for today. But she is determined to avoid romantic commitment, and she can always use her ex-boyfriend's reappearance to help snuff out the slow burn within her that Becks has sparked . . .

Or will fate force her to realize that this kind of connection doesn't come along very often and a chance at love is worth the risk?

My Review:

I’ve never read a book by K. Bromberg before this one. So when I was asked to review this book, I didn’t really know what I could expect. But when I read the book description and saw the beautiful cover I knew I just had to read this book. This book sounded like one I would really enjoy and I couldn’t wait to start reading. (‘Slow Burn’ is the fifth book in the Driven series but can definitely be read as a standalone.)

In ‘Slow Burn’ we meet Haddie Montgomery. Haddie lost her sister a couple of months ago and the pain of the loss is eating her away. Haddie’s way of dealing with her loss is to enjoy one night stands. No pressure and no strings. But one night, at Haddie’s best friend’s wedding, all she can think about is finding a distraction for her hurt. Beckett Daniels happens to be the perfect distraction. One night with him will be perfect. But unfortunately for Haddie, Beckett isn’t easy to forget. Especially since he doesn’t want her to forget the connection they shared.

The one thing I can say for sure after reading this book is: WOW!! This book definitely is an emotional rollercoaster. From the moment I started reading this book I couldn’t stop reading. I was just addicted to Haddie and Beckett and I just didn’t want it to end.
Although I normally don’t really understand people who like to have one night stands, I could definitely understand Haddie’s decision. But Haddie and Beckett where so damn perfect for each other that I was really hoping Haddie would open her heart for the handsome ‘Country’ boy.
Haddie’s loss and hurt where so well described by K. Bromberg that I honestly cried for her. I could feel her pain and was just really hurting beside her.

This book keeps you hooked until the very last page, and even then you still really don’t want it to end. I loved this book and I loved the emotions. K. Bromberg truly did an excellent job and I can’t love this book more than I do now! I loved the writing style. This book was sexy but not too much, it’s really more about the amazing connection Haddie and Beckett share. And the ending… boy… I seriously screamed!!

This book is definitely a must read if your love romance novels. It’s just perfect. I’ll definitely be reading the other books in this series!

About the Author:

K. Bromberg was born and raised in Southern California. She graduated from University of California at San Diego with two bachelors-economics and political science-but always loved to write.
K. Bromberg remains in Southern California with her husband and their three young children. When not writing or working her day job, she can be found playing ninjas or power rangers with her son, fixing the hair of her oldest daughter's American girl doll, or doing 'arts and crafts' with her youngest daughter, or listening to any or all of them fight/whine/laugh at once. When she needs a break from the daily chaos, you can almost always find her with Kindle in hand, devouring the pages of a good book or mentally outlining her next set of characters.
