Today I’m really excited to participate in the blog tour of ‘Guardian of Terath: Seeking Sorrow’ by Zen Dipietro. This is an adult sci-fi fantasy and is the first in a series.
Check out the tour page for more stops.
About the Book:
An earth-like world of high-tech humans faces the reality that their world is not as safe as they thought it was. Five people are thrown together to quietly get to the bottom of an unfathomable mana event that must stay quiet. If the population of Terath becomes aware of the truth, it will spark a civil war. That war would pit the majority of the population against the powerful minority with the ability to harness and manipulate mana. The resulting cataclysm would decimate the population and tear apart the foundation of society.
The five people chosen for this must reconsider everything they thought they knew about mana, even as they learn to trust one another’s abilities. They must embrace everything they never wanted in order to prevent the devastation of their world. One of them will be forever changed. Love will be denied, badassery will be unleashed, and Terath will never be the same.
Even success comes at a price.
To be completely honest I didn’t really knew if this was the book for me. I read the book description and I was definitely interested but I didn’t feel really excited about this book. I really liked the cover and the way it looks kind of mysterious, and after I read several great reviews about this book I decided to sign up for the blog tour.
‘Guardians of Terath: Seeking Sorrow’ is the story about five strangers with all different talents. These five strangers are put together to investigate a treat on Terath, an earth like world. Not only do they need to travel a lot but they also need to keep everything they do a secret. If the people of Terath would know what kind of treat is happening, there would be a lot of panic and maybe even the start of a civil war.
This book was definitely a huge surprise for me. After the first two chapters, where there was a lot explained about the Mana and the people who have the ability to use this ‘power’, I found myself unable to stop reading. I loved getting to know Terath, and the way the people of Terath lived.
The best part of this book for me where definitely the five main characters Izzy, Will, Arc, Luc and the Shiv. They are all very different with different talents and in this book you really get to know all these characters. I loved the way they were strangers but got to know each other throughout the book, just as we got to know them.
My favorite characters were definitely Izzy and the Shiv. They are both very strong, independent and gifted people and I loved reading about them. But the Shiv was definitely my favorite character. I loved the mystery and the surprises of this character.
There’s also a little romance in this book, but it is on the background. This definitely worked for me because that just wasn’t the main goal of this book. The friendships and the journey to finding answers were definitely on the front and I just really loved it.
The ending of this book was very surprising to me. I just didn’t see it coming at all. But I think it made me love this book even more.
Zen Dipietro was able to write an amazing and intriguing story. Her writing was easy to follow but also very descriptive. She really made Terath come to life for me. I loved this book and would definitely recommend it if you’re a fan of Sci-Fi and Fantasy books.
